08 May 2022Patriarch Kirill describes Russia as self-sufficient country which doesn't want to harm anyone
Moscow, May 8, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has conducted a liturgy on the eve of Victory Day at the main church of the Russian Armed Forces in Kubinka, Moscow Region, after which he responded to Western reproaches against Russia over its special operation in Ukraine.
"Russia does not wish to harm anyone, does not want to invade and occupy anyone, does not want to pump resources from anyone, as most rich and powerful countries of the world do, economically occupying weak and helpless countries. We do not need all this, we are self-sufficient," the patriarch said.
Russia needs only one thing - true freedom, independence from those world centers of power that are becoming hostile to it today, he said.
"We should consolidate all our forces - both spiritual and material, so that no one would dare to encroach on the sacred frontiers of our Fatherland. And my words are not what our opponents would like to describe as yet another militaristic speech by the patriarch, all of this is nonsense," Patriarch Kirill said.
Addressing the servicemen who attended the liturgy, he urged them to be inspired by the examples of St. Princes Dmitry Donskoy and Alexander Nevsky, Commanders Mikhail Kutuzov, Alexander Suvorov, Pavel Nakhimov, Mikhail Skobelev, Georgy Zhukov and the entire "brilliant galaxy of Soviet marshals, who ensured the victory over Nazi Germany in many ways." |
