15 June 2007Howling dog joins the chime of beater in Ukrainian monastery
Odessa, June 15, Interfax - Belyi, a stray dog living near a monastery in the Western part of Ukraine, calls the brothers to church in his own manner.
'When the beater (there are no bells in the monastery) starts chiming, Belyi runs to the belfry, throws back his brownish muzzle, and praises our Lord in his doggy manner, trying to follow the melody of the beater,' Yedinoye Otechestvo website reports referring to Ukrainian TV.
'Let everything that breathes praise the Lord,' the brothers smile.
The dog got his strange habit after falling into an accident. Earlier Belyi was rather wild and aggressive even after the monks made him their watchdog. But one day somebody almost killed him with an axe.
Belyi nearly died, but the monks took care of him and saved the doggy life. After he became whole his behavior changed. The dog is no longer a wild beast since he became friendly and started singing very nice.
