01 October 2008Youth will practise in dancing in a Moscow Orthodox parish

Moscow, October 1, Interfax – Young parishioners of the Annunciation Church in Petrovsky Park widely known for its social initiatives will practise in dance ballroom and folk dances.
Lessons will take place thrice a week in sport complex at the church, curator of the Petrovsky Park dance studio Deacon Mikhail Palkin told an Interfax-Religion correspondent.
“Our chief task is to make Orthodox young people meet, Fr. Mikhail said. The second objective is to organize their free time in more interesting and noble manner than the world offers them today. It's also useful to develop the sense of rhyme and tact, good manners characteristic for such dancing.’
The program includes about ten variations of waltz, polonaise, mazurka, tango. Four trainers will teach dancing. Students will be divided in two groups: for those who seriously take dancing courses for more than a year and for all new comers. There is no need to regularly attend the second course: a student may joint the program at any stage. The only stipulation is not to break up the process.
Petrovsky Park plans to hold a historical ball on St. Tatiana Day celebrated by Church and students.
