28 December 2010Pensioners can help road police regulate road situation, rabbi Kogan believes

Moscow, December 28, Interfax - Head of the Congress of Religious Organizations and Associations in Russia rabbi Zinovy Kogan urged road police to attract pensioners to its work.
"Why don't our road police use pensioners, who can be on duty (on roads - IF). The policeman can take a pensioner to the cross road, where there's such need, and the pensioner can stand there with a note book and make real-time statistics," Kogan suggested speaking at a conference of the World Russian People's Council on Russian road situation.
According to him, thus the pensioner "becomes a hero for his wife as he has work and perhaps will earn some money."
"We won't improve situation on the roads until we take it up together, but first of all, pensioners can help our police officers in the question. We can form district volunteers. Many of them will accept the offer: it's better to go and earn some money than to argue with your old wife at home," the rabbi summed up.
