23 March 2016, 11:29Moscow police chief reports detention of 56 Hizb ut-Tahrir members last fall
Moscow, March 23, Interfax - More than 50 members of Hizb ut-Tahrir (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) were apprehended by the Moscow region police in a special operation last fall, head of the Russian Interior Ministry's Moscow city department Anatoly Yakunin has said.
"Fifty-six members of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami Islamic Party of Liberation were detained in October 2015 during operative and investigative procedures conducted jointly by the Federal Security Service department in Moscow and the Moscow Region, the Interior Ministry and the Interior Ministry's Moscow city department in the criminal inquiry into the involvement of terrorist activities," Yakunin said at a meeting of the Moscow City Duma on Wednesday.
