16 May 2016, 17:17Every forth Russian woman, who turned to the Health Ministry consultative centers, refused abortion
Rostov-na-Donu, May 16, Interfax - Russian children's rights ombudsman Pavel Astakhov says that Russia has achieved significant results in struggling against abortions.
"From 266,500 women who turned to the consultative centers of the Russian Health Ministry opened last year, and there are 894 of them today, 67,000 refused to make an abortion," Astakhov said on Monday in Rostov-on-Don at the congress of children's rights ombudsmen in Russian regions.
He specified that amendments to the law on "Foundations of Health Protection in Russia" and further recommendations of the Health Ministry on working with women who decided to make an abortion, helped decrease the number of abortions in the country.
According to Astakhov, today Russia leaves behind majority of developed European countries on total coefficient of second children's birth.
"The most advanced in this field are territories of Great Britain - England and Wales. There the coefficient of second children's birth was 67 last year, while in Russia it was 69," he said. |
