25 April 2006, 13:50Blood exuded from icons of Christ on Easter even in a church in Penza region
Penza, April 25, Interfax - Parishioners of the church of the Holy Trinity at the Stary Balovay village 200 kilometers away from Penza became witnesses on Easter eve of an extraordinary phenomenon as myrrh poured down and blood exuded from their icons.
'You doubt it, but if you see it with your own eyes you will know for certain that such things do happen. We have had 27 icons exuding myrrh for a year now, but in the last two weeks before Easter they began to 'cry' even stronger. And six icon as much as exuded blood', the warden of the church, Gennady Zalivnov, said as cited by the Penza issue of Komsomolskaya Pravda on Tuesday.
He said the Resurrection of Christ icon exuded real blood. 'First we saw a red drop appearing on Jesus' forehead and then it turned into a little stream. After that, blood appeared on his palms, feet and rib', he said.
A little later, blood began exuding from the icons of the Savior Not-Made-With-Hands, Savior Blessing, Savior Pantocrator, Epiphany and another Resurrection icon - all images of Jesus Christ. They all stand either in the sanctuary or next to it.
After the service, parishioners take cotton wool and handkerchiefs from under the icons. Saturated with myrrh, they are applied to sores for healing, the newspaper maintains.
'My son Vladimir has sore feet, he even went through an operation. One foot ached so much that he could not sleep. I applied a handkerchief saturated with myrrh and the pain stopped. Now he feels much better', one of the parishioners related.
All the myrrh-exuding icons in this church were kept previously in parishioners' places. No one exuded myrrh, all the more blood. It is only placed in church that they worked a miracle. |
