Kiev, December 19, Interfax - The locum tenens of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra monastery, Metropolitan Pavel, will soon be summoned for questioning by the Security Service of Ukraine as a witness in the case over violation of citizens' religious rights, the agency's spokesperson Alyona Gitlianskaya said.
"Over the next few days, Metropolitan Pavel will be summoned as a witness as part of a criminal inquiry opened under Article 161 [discrimination based on race, ethnicity or religion]," Gitlianskaya told Interfax.
It was reported that on November 30, 2018, security officers searched the priest's home as part of an inquiry under Article 161 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
