30 October 2020, 13:26No world religions accept ideas of extremism - Peskov
Moscow, October 30, Interfax - Extremism has nothing to do with religion, and attempts to use religion as a cover should be seen clearly, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"No world religions accept the ideas of extremism, they absolutely reject them, and actually, extremism has nothing to do with religion. We should clearly see and comprehend any attempts to use any religion as a cover for extremism. This is nothing but extremism and terrorism," Peskov told journalists on Friday.
Journalists asked whether the Kremlin believes Moscow does not have enough mosques to enable Islamic clerics to persuade the younger generation of the inadequacy of radical ideas.
"Speaking of the construction of mosques and so on, I'd rather not comment. I simply do not have such information; it's necessary to count the number of existent mosques and the Muslim population of Moscow in order to see whether there are any problems with mosques, etc.," Peskov said.
This is a prerogative of the city authorities, he said. |
