03 November 2020, 13:00Expert on Islam calls the terrorist attack in Vienna an echo of the caricature scandal in France
Moscow, November 3, Interfax - Expert on Islam, professor of the Moscow State Linguistic University Roman Silantyev believes the terrorist attack in Vienna was provoked by caricatures on Prophet Muhammad, which, being actually supported by the French leadership, woke up sleeping cells of terrorists.
"Immediately after beheading of a teacher in France and reaction of the French authorities to this crime, terrorist cells around the world received, in fact, a signal to start the attack, and we really see terrorist attacks everywhere, they are directed not only against French, but also against everyone else," Silantyev told Interfax on Tuesday.
According to him, the topic of insults of the prophet gave the terrorists a powerful trump card and a powerful impulse to strengthen their activities. "Until now, the coronavirus has obscured terrorist activity. Yes, there were terrorist attacks, terrorists were eliminated in the Middle East, but this topic disappeared from the first pages, however today they have happily returned thanks to such a "gift" from the French authorities," the expert believes.
He said the wave of terrorist attacks may last for a long time as each incident may be followed by incorrect statements, all Muslims may be insulted and again it will lead to a flow of people into the ranks of terrorists and new terrorist attacks.
Silantyev noted that the wrong reaction of political leaders to terrorist attacks often becomes a signal to wake up sleeping cells of terrorists, who, even without receiving commands from higher structures, themselves decide to come out of the shadow, and there are tens of thousands of such people around the world. |
