"The court has declined the investigator's motion to take the accused into custody. Vardan Pegatosovich Zakaryan is put under house arrest until January 23," court press secretary Lela Kokaya told Interfax.

They are all charged with organizing the activities of a public or religious association on which there is a court ruling to close it or to ban its activities in connection with extremist activities. The crime is punishable by large fines, correctional labor, or up to ten years in prison.
The Moscow department of the Russian Investigative Committee said earlier that several leaders of the Jehovah's Witnesses Administrative Center in Russia had been detained. |
