Moscow, April 21, Interfax - Twenty-eight percent of Russian women of reproductive age (from 18 through 45) say they want to be mothers of at least three children, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) said in a statement published on its website on Thursday.
The desire is mostly expressed by women aged from 35 to 45 (40%). The share stands at 28% in the group aged from 25 and 34, and 20% in the group aged from 18 to 24.
Nine percent of Russian women of reproductive age would like to have four children, and the share reaches 13% among women aged from 35 through 45, the pollster said.
Thirty-nine percent of respondents said they would like to be mothers of two children, and 12%, or one in eight, said one child would be enough, it said.
Seven percent of Russian women of reproductive age want to be child-free, and the share reaches 13% in the group aged from 18 through 24.
