Patriarch Kirill considers it wrong to judge a person's righteousness by his clothes

Moscow, May 23, Interfax – Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia argued with those who believe that a true Christian must necessarily follow a strict dress code.

"Let's not be deceived: neither traditional clothes nor "traditional" appearance make us disciples of Christ. And sometimes it seems like this: the longer the dress, the darker it is, the more saving it seems to be," the patriarch said at a Monday report at the XXX International Educational Readings in Kremlin.

He explained that he does not call for giving up this kind of clothing, but wants to emphasize that "clothes do not save, just as many external manifestations of religiosity do not save, if there is no genuine faith that is assisted by good deeds."
