09 June 2022, 16:39Rallies, demonstrations to be prohibited near religious buildings in Russia
Moscow, June 9, Interfax - A bill prohibiting assemblies, rallies, marches and demonstrations at railway stations, in schools and in buildings of public administration bodies has been submitted to the State Duma.
A relevant initiative was published in the State Duma database of the legislative activities on Thursday. Its authors are a group of State Duma and Federation Council members, in particular, Andrey Klimov, Vladimir Dzhabarov, Vasily Piskaryov, and Andrey Lugovoy.
Under the bill, the current law will outline places where assemblies, rallies, marches and demonstrations will be prohibited. These places include religious buildings and facilities, as well as on the land sites where such buildings and facilities are located, including those belonging to religious organizations and places of pilgrimage.
The ban will also apply to the buildings and territories of educational establishments, healthcare organizations, social security organizations, and children's and sports grounds, the buildings of public administration bodies and territories directly adjacent to such buildings and infrastructure facilities, the buildings and territories of river, sea, railway and bus stations, airports, sea and river ports, and marinas. |
