04 July 2022, 17:11Patriarch Kirill thinks no one can reformat Russia
Moscow, July 4, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has said the current negative attitude toward Russia in the Western world is due to envy.
"Many stand up today, including against our Fatherland. However, we know that the Fatherland has not done anything bad to anyone. In addition, they oppose us not because we are bad, but because we are different. And this otherness of Russia is what arouses feelings of jealousy, envy and resentment," the patriarch said after a liturgy at the Church of St. Methodius and St. Cyril in Kaliningrad on Sunday.
"But we cannot alter ourselves. Of course, many people would like, as they say now, to reformat us. However, it just couldn't be done! Although so much effort and money has been invested in this reformatting of Russia. And it was, and is in its essence - Holy Rus, the realm of the Blessed Virgin Mary. God grant that it will continue to be so," he added.
The primate of the Russian Orthodox Church believes that if people live according to God's law and find the strength to fight their passions and vices, then the Lord will truly be with them. |
