Moscow, July 28, Interfax - The bills banning the propaganda of non-traditional values are expected to be put up for public debate, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.
There is certainty that they will be adopted, bearing in mind the opinions of the factions, he said.
"We plan to organize a public debate of these bills and consider them in the fall session. Bearing in mind the stated position of a majority of factions, there is certainty that the bills banning the propaganda of non-traditional values and introducing liability for its dissemination will be adopted," Volodin told reporters on Thursday.
One bill on this matter has already been submitted by deputies Nina Ostanina, Olga Alimova, Yana Lantratova, Nikolay Burlyayev, Alexey Zhuravlyov, and Alexey Korniyenko.
"Other initiatives are being prepared as well. I know that Information Policy Committee head Alexander Khinshtein has drafted bills that are now being considered in the government," Volodin said.
The bill banning the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations was submitted to the State Duma on July 18. It prohibits the dissemination of information aimed at promoting non-traditional sexual relations.
The bill also introduces in the current legislation in the sphere of film industry a regulation that directly prohibits the issuance to movie theaters of screening certificates for any cinematographic materials that allow the propaganda of denial of family values and non-traditional sexual relations. |
