Parishioners of a Presbyterian church in Seattle raise 15 thousand dollars for restoration of Trinity Cathedral in St. Petersburg

Washington, August 30, Interfax - Parishioners of a Presbyterian church in Seattle, having heard about the fire at the Trinity Cathedral in St. Petersburg, have donated 15 thousand dollars for its restoration.

The money was collected during the Sunday service, one of the parishioners informed Interfax.

In addition, parishioners have gathered over 80 letters of prayers and support, which will be translated into Russian. They are to be conveyed to the rector of the Trinity Cathedral, Archpriest Gennady Bartov, by a Russian seminarian who has just flown out of Seattle.

The fire at the Izmailovo Cathedral of the Trinity happened last Friday. It started at a height of 30 or 40 meters on the scaffolds surrounding the dome. It covered about 1800 square meters. The central and western domes as well as the roof were damaged. The other three domes have remained intact.
