Jewish children attacked in Moscow region

Moscow, February 19, Interfax - Three pupils from the Jewish school Torat Haim have been assaulted in the Ramensky district in the Moscow region, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR) said on Monday.

According to FJCR, last Sunday, at around 5:00 pm Moscow time, three pupils heading for a suburban train station after a school seminar were approached by a group of youngsters aged between 18 and 25.

The youngsters asked for a cigarette and followed with other questions. When they asked about ethnicity and demanded to see the Jewish pupils' passports, a brawl erupted, resulting in one of the pupils (an Israeli citizen) being hospitalized with a brain concussion.

The attackers took a mobile phone and an MP-3 player from the boys and caught the next train.

No information from law enforcement officials has been made available to Interfax.
