Kyrgyz officials suspected of giving aid to Hizb ut-Tahrir members

Bishkek, September 3, Interfax - Municipal officials in southern Kyrgyzstan are suspected of forging identification documents for members of the outlawed Hizb ut-Tahrir party.

"The southern Kyrgyz department of the Interior Ministry's Organized Crime Division revealed that two members of the religious extremist organization changed their identity in the town of Karasuu in the Osh region in the middle of August," the ministry told Interfax on Monday.

The identification documents were forged for receiving external passports "in conspiracy with a secretary of the Karasuu administration and chairmen of two community committees," the ministry said.

"The members of the outlawed organization received forged birth and military registration certificates and medical security cards. The case is being investigated," the ministry said.
