Russian Playboy’s forebear against banning erotic in public places

Moscow, January 29, Interfax – Music critic and establisher of the Playboy’s Russian version Artemy Troitsky believes the initiative to ban reading erotic publications in public places is improper and controversial.

‘Two variants of commentaries fit. Number one: they (MPs - IF) have nothing to do. This country has a great number of problems and implicit important laws to be adopted and they propose pointless projects,’ Troitsky told Interfax.

‘I would unseat them for such initiatives,’ he added.

His second commentary dealt with international practice on the question.

‘Yes, there is pornography for the oversexed and the aggrieved in certain bullpens far from mass beaten paths. As to difference between pornography and erotica, the world has somehow managed to sort it out’, Troitsky noted.

According to him, ‘magazines with bikini girls in dishy poses on the cover have nothing to do with pornography’.

‘Even Playboy, say nothing of magazines a-la Maxim, are not pornography. It is so-called life-style rather than even erotic. The ban on erotic publications is absolute absurd under this context,’ Troitsky stressed.

According to him, ‘there is a rational kernel in certain restrictions on publishing pornography (spreading pornography is statute-banned in Russia – IF).’

The draft law with a proposal ‘to fine for reading erotic and pornographic publications in public places’ was submitted to the parliament on Monday.
