The Russian Ecclesiastical Mission is indignant at Jerusalem Jews insulting Christian clergy

Jerusalem, April 10, Interfax – The head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem Archimandrite Tikhon (Zaitsev) is indignant at Orthodox Jews who spit on the representatives of Christian clergy at the streets of the Holy City.

“Such ignorance is frequently demonstrated. That’s nice if they only expectoration, sometimes they throw stones,” Fr. Tikhon said on Thursday in Jerusalem meeting with Russian journalists.

He noted that Israel should settle this problem.

“I’m ready to meet with anyone if it could influence the situation,” the priest said.

The last incident with spits happened several years ago with delegation of Armenian clergy and had broad resonance. Then to reply the Jews the delegates applied physical force.
