Bilan prayed to win Eurovision and candle was burning in his make-up room

Moscow, May 28, Interfax - Pop-singer Dmitry Bilan believes that he won Eurovision 2008 thanks to his prayers to God, Interfax-Religion reports.

"I'd like to say that I visited St. Sava church a day prior to the semi-final. The church was built 80 years ago and has fantastic energy in it. Perhaps, it needn't be told... But there was one special thing both on the stage and in the make-up room during our performance," he told in his interview published by the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily on Wednesday.

According to Bilan's producer Yana Rudkovskaya, a candle was burning in the singer's make-up room and back vocalists had the same candle on the stage.

"It was burning even during the vote. We didn't blow it up," the singer said.

Hungarian violinist Edwin Marton, who took part in Bilan's performance, confessed that he prayed in a Catholic church before the contest.
