Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna to join events marking tsar's execution in Russia in July

Moscow, June 25, Interfax - Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, the head of the Russian Imperial House, will visit Russia in July to attend events marking 90 years since Tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed.

"The Grand Duchess will visit Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Alapayevsk. The visit is to begin on July 14," Alexander Zakatov, the head of the Russian Imperial House's chancellery, told Interfax on Wednesday.

Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna and other members of the Romanov House reside in Spain.

Zakatov said at a news conference at Interfax in December 2007 that, the Royal Family would be ready to settle in Russia only after the state recognizes its status. "This does not involve restitution of any kind, or something unthinkable. It would suffice to recognize the Royal Family's status as an historical institution without changing the republic set-up," he said.

The Romanovs House also insists that Nicholas II and his family be recognized as victims of political reprisals.
