Patriarch Bartholomew seeks to solve problems with Moscow Patriarchate

Istanbul, July 6, Interfax - Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople thinks it necessary to develop the constructive dialog with the Moscow Patriarchate despite sporadic disagreements.

It is a duty of those who assume the responsibility of church leadership to find solutions to any problems in the spirit of peace and love in order to preserve the unity of the holy Orthodox Church, he said after the Sunday service at the Istanbul St. George Cathedral. The service was ministered jointly with the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

Clouds that sometimes darken the relations between the fraternal churches pass quickly, he said.

He noted that the unity could not be destroyed.

In his address to Patriarch Kirill, Bartholomew welcomed all Russian believers and described the people of Russia as pious and blessed by the Lord.
