18 November 2009, 10:01The deputy-communist suggests to withdraw a mention of God from the text of a national Russian anthem
Moscow, November 18, Interfax - The Deputy of the Russian State Duma from Communist faction Boris Kashin has introduced on Tuesday a draft of bill suggesting to make changes to the federal law "About a national anthem of the Russian Federation".
"No one religion can be established as state or obligatory, because our country is a soviet state," Kashin told Interfax.
He noticed that the essence of the offer consists in replacement of one word in the text of the national anthem. "I offer to change a stanza "You, Our one Native land, protected by God!" to change to the stanza "You, Our one Native land, protected by us!" the deputy declared.
According to the explanatory note, "the considerable part of Russian citizens doesn't practise any religion and think, that they are atheists, therefore words "protected by God" doesn't correspond to outlook of this category of citizens". |
