Russia donates $2 mln to restore and protect four Kosovo monasteries

Belgrade, January 29, Interfax – Russia will donate $2 million to four monasteries in Serbian district of Kosovo and Metochia, Serbian Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic told Serbian RTS TV.

These funds will be forwarded to renovate and secure protection of monasteries Visoki Decani, Gracanica, Mother of God of Levis and the Patriarchal See of Pec.

“It’s planned to allocate $400 thousand out of $2 million donated by Russia to restore paintings in the Monastery of Mother of God of Levis. Other monasteries will receive money not only to renew paintings, but to restore and secure protection of monastery complexes,” the Minister said.
