Orthodox archbishop killed in Smolensk air crash buried

Kiev, April 20, Interfax – Monastery of the Polish town Suprasl held a funeral ceremony of Archbishop Miron of Hajnowka, Orthodox Ordinary of the Polish Army, killed in the Smolensk plane crush.

The Archbishop was the Father Superior of the Suprasl Monastery. He was buried in the crypt of the main monastery's shrine - the Church of Annunciation, official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has reported on Tuesday.

A civil funeral service took place in Warsaw early on April 19, and then the coffin with his body was taken to Suprasl.

On behalf of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Minister of Science and Higher Education Barbara Kudrycka attended the farewell ceremony.

Archbishop Miron was 53 when the tragedy happened.
