St. Petersburg, July 16, Interfax - Many exhibits from the Pskov and Novgorod museums were given to restoration and responsible storage to the Grabar Conservation Center where a large-scale fire took place on Thursday.
"Unique Old Russian icons of 15-17th centuries, a shroud of 17th century are kept in the Grabar Center. Only one icon of the Nativity is estimated in 12 million euro," head of the scientific research of the Pskov Museum Olga Vasilyeva told Interfax.
Experts of the Novgorod Museum said that many exhibits from museum funds, icons, paintings and pieces of decorative art were kept in the center.
"Today we try to clear out what has happened to them and hope that everything is alright, because if they are lost, it will become a serious loss not only for our museum collection, but for the whole country," the museum staff said.
All exhibits sent to restoration from both museums were not insured.
