Patriarch Kirill says he doesn't have friends as he strives to be a pastor for everyone
*** Primate of the Russian Church doesn't have days-off, loves anecdotes, but doesn't remember them
Chisinau, October 12, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia confessed that loneliness and lack of rest are his companions.
"Solitude is what will really accompany me as a Patriarch until the end of my days, it accompanied all my predecessors," said in his interview with Moldavian, Romanian TV channels and Rossiya-24 TV.
According to him, "a Patriarch can't have friends, he has a parish, and friendship in its ordinary everyday meaning is almost impossible, as all his abilities are aimed at being a pastor for everyone."
"Friendship supposes an exclusive fraternity of some favorites, those who are closer to the Patriarch than others. I think it is counterproductive," the Patriarch said.
As to the sense of humor, its lack is, according to the Primate, "a very dangerous phenomenon." "Humor not only helps to emotionally relax, but to settle tensions as well," he is convinced.
"As to anecdotes, I like to listen to them, but somehow I don't have an ability to remember them," he said.
