30 January 2012, 10:03Five militants killed in Dagestan responsible for attacks on priests
Moscow, January 30, Interfax - Five militants killed in the Kizlyar district of Dagestan on Friday were supposedly involved in a number of terrorism-related crimes, National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) spokesman Nikolay Sintsov said.
"Intelligence indicates that the dead militants belonged to the so-called Kizlyar gang responsible for a string of terrorism-related crimes and numerous attacks on civilians, priests, and law enforcement officers," Sintsov told Interfax.
The identities of the dead militants have yet to be determined.
"A reinforced dugout has been discovered at the scene of the armed clash, containing a stock of foodstuffs and uniforms, assault rifles, a machine-gun, four improvised explosive devices, a pistol and cartridges," Sintsov said.
Four Interior Ministry soldiers were killed and three others injured in the clash. |
