Pussy Riot band's performance in churches "blasphemy" - Lavrov (updated)

Moscow, March 20, Interfax - The performance staged by the Pussy Riot band at the Christ the Savior Cathedral and the Yelokhovo Church is a blasphemy, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"Some, including in the West, have in fact interpreted it as a freedom of speech, albeit frolicsome. Our society will not accept that. It is a blasphemy, a sacrilege," Lavrov said in an interview with the Kommersant FM radio station.
