26 March 2012, 17:33Chechnya's first lady presents Islamic wear in UAE, plans next fashion show in Saudi Arabia
Dubai, March 26, Interfax - The Firdaws Fashion House of the Chechen leader's wife, Medni Kadyrova, presented its new collection, Lady Chechnya, in Dubai, the Russian Emirates website said.
Chechen fashion designers Zarima Yakhayeva and Zaur Mamedov presented more than 70 items of evening and casual Islamic wear made of velvet, chiffon, silk and French lace with Oriental style embroidery and semi-precious gemstones and crystals.
"The natural beauty and grace of Oriental women inspired us to create state of the art pieces. I am confident that the Dubai show is just the first step toward winning the fashion world of the Middle East," Kadyrova said.
In the words of the designers, Chechen fashion has a European trend, and slim fit dresses may be found in the Islamic wear. So far these dresses are sold only in Grozny boutiques, but Firdaws plans to open its outlets in other places, such as the UAE.
This is the first fashion show abroad, but a similar show is planned in the capital city of Saudi Arabia soon, Mamedov said. A winter collection with unique leather and rare fur items is being prepared.
Kadyrova founded the Firdaws Fashion House in Grozny in October 2009. It won the Grand Prix of the Couturier of the Year 2011 international contest in Moscow.
