Director of a Russian school complains of injustice to the Pope of Rome

Moscow, April 14, Interfax - School director in the village of Znamenskoye, the Kaliningrad Region, Vladimir Yozhikov wrote an open letter to Pope of Rome Benedict XVI.

He complains that Catholics were given a chapel where school workshops were located and two hectares of the "first-class soil" while the educational establishment hardly makes both ends meet, the Izvestia paper writes.

Yozhikov asks "to settle the question by a modern and civilized way, not by middle-aged "divide et impera" and to transfer five million rubles (about $170 thsd -IF) to the school account.

Former deputy of the Regional Duma and deputy of the regional Education Minister Yozhikov came to raise the village school from Kaliningrad half a year ago. He prepared his project Clever School to make villain children to study on notebooks and set up a computer security system in school.

However, the director did not meet any understanding and started writing to regional authorities and the country's supreme leaders that "power networks are sagging, wooden piers have decayed, while 447 pupils go above them every day," that school canteen looks more like a prison cell with windows like gun slots and cellar premises where children eat "are covered with fungus and mould and do not have any ventilation system," that "tiled roof is leaking, and classes are safely protected by buckets and basins."

The village director's diary was regularly published in local papers.
