25 April 2012, 14:07Orthodox cemetery in Kyrgyzstan vandalized
Bishkek, April 25, Interfax - Unidentified vandals have destroyed a number of memorials, crosses and fences and desecrated several dozens of graves at an Orthodox cemetery in Kyrgyzstan, the Zamandash-Contemporary party told Interfax.
"Zamandash-Contemporary is denouncing the act of vandalism committed at the Orthodox cemetery in the village of Zhany-Pakhta in the Sokuluk District of the Chui Region in the north of the country," it said.
"The defiling of ancestors' burial places is among the worst sins. A truly believing person, regardless of their religion, will never dare encroach on sacred things. Vandals deserve not only everyone's contempt but also severe punishment in line with Kyrgyz laws," the party said.
"Unfortunately, until this crime is solved, indelible shame will be lying not only on the thugs but on our entire society and the state," it said. |
