Moscow, May 3, Interfax - A son of a Dagestani imam, who died in a bomb attack in March, and his family were attacked in Dagestan on Thursday morning, a local law enforcement source told Interfax.
"While a VAZ 2110 car was traveling near the community of Khebda, the Shamil District, a roadside bomb went off at 6:40 a.m. Moscow time. The car was carrying a son of Central Mosque Imam Gitinomagomed Abdulgapurov, who died in a bomb attack in Buinaksk, and his family," the source said.
No one was hurt by the explosion, and investigators later examined the scene of the crime.
It was reported earlier that Abdulgapurov and a policeman guarding him were killed in an explosion in Buinaksk on March 23.
Investigative authorities have opened a criminal case into the incident.
The investigation has determined that the imam had received threats from unidentified individuals, and therefore a policeman had been tasked with guarding him.
