03 February 2006, 12:39Mufti Tajuddin - Moslems should express their protest against the cartoons in the Danish newspaper in a civilized way
Ufa, February 3, Interfax - Talgat Tajuddin, Supreme Mufti of the Central Moslem Board in Russia, described as excessive the reaction of a certain part of the Islamic community to the publication of Mohammed cartoons.
‘It is a superfluous reaction, of course. They published what they published; it is their own view and they have the right to it. But it is wrong to threaten a whole state’, the mufti said to Interfax.
In this way he commented on the harshest forms, including burning the Danish flag, boycotting Danish goods and threatening Danish overseas representation, in which protest was expressed in Islamic countries against the publication of the cartoons.
According to the mufti, Moslem could express their protest through the Danish embassy.
‘One should be civilized in a civilized society. If a response is that of hatred and malice, the reaction to it will also be hatred and malice, but a believer should never go that far’, Mufti Tajuddin emphasized.
