Modern capitalism is doomed to perish, the Russia Church official says
Moscow, June 7, Interfax - The Moscow Patriarchate official supposes that capitalism as is now stands should be signed a sentence.
"Today it's time to sign a moral verdict to modern capitalism, modern world economic system. Christian circles voice this verdict not for the first time, and these circles, according to Weber, were spiritual founders of capitalism," head of the Synodal Department for Church and Society Relations Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin said at a seminar of the Russian Academy of Sciences academician, renowned economist Oleg Bogomolov.
According to him, neither modern capitalism nor return to the USSR "are not ways out of the most serious problems humanity faces today."
The priest noted that modern global economic system is founded on the principle "money makes money" and this principle "is deeply immoral."
"Liberal capitalism is doomed to perish. Either it will seize being capitalism, or seize being liberal. It is not by chance that modern crisis developments urge world elites to realize scenarios of controllable chaos or scenarios of global electronic dictatorship, where total watch and control over all sides of human life will be accompanied by ideological monopoly," he said.
"Strong personified central power has always been natural for Russia, whether they like it or no, priority in public hierarchy has always been given to state officials rather than to personified economic actors and moreover various kinds of informal centers of power, whether criminal or some self-proclaimed groups of know-it-alls," the priest said.
He believes that to unite these ideals with all new possible developments is mutual obligation of authorities and society.
