Moscow, August 2, Interfax - President Vladimir Putin sent a birthday message to the head of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church, Metropolitan Kornily, who turned 65 on Wednesday.
"Your fruitful work as primate of the Russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church has earned you sincere and deep respect. Your contribution to the maintenance of time-honored spiritual traditions, the preservation of the rich cultural and historical legacy of our people, the strengthening of peace and harmony, and the moral climate in our society is particularly significant and valuable," the president's office quoted Putin as saying in his message.
The president said the Old-Rite Church is experiencing a time of revival and is building up ties with Old Believers of Russian origin abroad. This goes to the credit of Kornily, Putin said, wished the metropolitan good health and many and successful years of ministry. |
