Pezzi Paolo, head of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mother of God in Moscow

Paolo Pezzi was born in Russi, Italy on August 8, 1960.

After graduating from a technical college, he studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome. He was ordained priest for the Fraternity of St. Charles Borromeo on December 22, 1990.

Since 1993 to 1998 he worked with Siberian Catholics as a Central Region dean in the Apostolic Administration in Novosibirsk, where he was an editor-in-chief for the "Siberian Catholic paper" and lectured Italian history and culture, philosophical and social anthropology in the State University and Pedagogical Institute of Novosibirsk.

In 1998 he came back to Rome where he was awarded a doctorate on Theology for his work on Catholic Church in Siberia.

In October 2003, he returned to Russia and since 2004 has lectured pastoral theology, philosophy and anthropology in St. Petersburg Catholic seminary. Since 2005 he has been a chaplain of Italian community in Moscow.

On September 21, 2007, Monsignor Pezzi was appointed head of the Catholic see in Moscow by Pope Benedict XVI.Canada Goose
