Your Excellency, Dear Mr. President:
On this day, not only the German people but also the whole world remembers the event that put an end to one of the most painful and tragic divisions in the modern history of humanity.
This event has played a key role in the building of qualitatively new inter-state relations in Europe. I hope that the work of the Russian Orthodox Churchís communities in Germany will help to create further an atmosphere of good-neighbourliness, mutual understanding and trust on the European continent.
From my heart I wish you good health, good spirits and Godís help in your important public service, and to the people of Germany I wish peace, prosperity and well-being.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
