Appeals for jihad against Russia shameful for Muslims - Supreme Mufti

Ufa, October 22, Interfax - Central Muslim Spiritual Board of Russia Chairman Talgat Tajuddin has criticized the appeal of clerics in Saudi Arabia for jihad against Russia.

"It pains me to realize that some Muslims believe the appeal of this dark force [ISIL] and we are ashamed to hear this; it is a shame on Muslims that 50 so-called clerics in Mecca declare jihad, a holy war against our country, against Russia," the supreme mufti said at a conference in Ufa.

"Where were they in 2003 when the United States and over 40 other countries attacked the holy land of Iraq like a vulture? Baghdad was bombed. Some 70-100 people are still killed there every day. Where were those clerics?" he wondered.

More than 50 clerics in Saudi Arabia have called on Muslims from all over the world to support the jihad against Russia, Iran and the Syrian government which, in their opinion, "is waging a real war on Sunnis and their countries." The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) led by odious preacher and ideological leader of the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood Yusuf al-Qaradawi has joined the attacks on Russia.
