Russians see IS as most probable adversary in next decade - poll

Moscow, November 23, Interfax - 59% of Russians think that the national Armed Forces are most likely to clash with IS (a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia) in the upcoming decade, Levada Center told Interfax, referring to a poll held on November 13-16.

A third (33%) is confident that military operations against ISIL may be conducted near borders or in the Russian territory. Some 22% and 46%, respectively, do not believe in a possibility of major hostilities against IS, and 19% and 21%, respectively, are unable to answer the question.

More than a quarter of the respondents (28%) deem possible major clashes between the Russian Armed Forces and NATO outside Russia within the next ten years, and 19% believe that this scenario is possible on the Russian borders or in the national territory.
