Minsk, December 15, Interfax - The Belarusian Interior Ministry has uncovered the departures of roughly ten Belarusian nationals for the purposes of joining ISIL.
"We have exposed no more than ten people of the kind. We will make an inquiry into every case that we are aware of and will [then] provide a legal assessment," the state news agency BelTA quoted Belarusian Interior Minister Igor Shunevich as saying.
The minister added that it was difficult to establish the exact reason why Belarusian citizens were going abroad.
"We can only speak about the engagement in the hostilities when we have the facts. We are gathering [the facts]," he said.
Shunevich added that about one hundred Belarusian citizens were fighting in Donbas.
ISIL is a terrorist organization that is banned in Russia.
