Syrian population receives 60 tonnes of flour in aid from Moscow Muslim board

Moscow, March 28, Interfax - The Moscow Muslim Board has sent about 60 tonnes of flour as humanitarian aid for Syrian civilians.

"Thanks to help from the Defense Ministry, we were able to send this important cargo gathered by believers to support civilians of the Syrian Republic," Russian Public Chamber member Albir Krganov, the mufti of Moscow, Central Region and Chuvashia, told Interfax-Religion on Monday.

It is important that Syrians should not just get the aid "but also feel our unity, sincere desire to support and participate in their fate at this difficult time," the mufti said.

The cargo was sent aboard two Russian Defense Ministry aircraft from the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region, he said.

"By now the humanitarian cargo has successfully reached the Syrian Republic," he added.
