Nazarbayev finds involvement of Islamic countries in arms race unreasonable

Astana, April 14, Interfax - Kazakhstan supports the formation of a zone free from nuclear armaments in the Middle East, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said.

Speaking at the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, he described the involvement of countries of the Islamic world in the arms race as unreasonable, especially in violation of the nuclear non-proliferation mode, a report of the presidential press service circulated on Thursday says.

In this context, Kazakhstan supports the formation of a zone free from nuclear armaments in the Middle East, Nazarbayev said.
