Georgian Orthodox Christian activists hold protest rally on Pope Francis' route

Tbilisi, September 30, Interfax - Several dozen representatives of the Orthodox Parents Union public organization and priests of the Georgian Orthodox Church organized a protest against the visit of Pope Francis to Georgia on the road from Tbilisi International Airport on Friday.

While the pope's motorcade was passing them, the participants in the rally held banners with the text: 'The Vatican is a religious aggressor'.

The participants in the rally told reporters that the pope's sermon, which he intends to deliver in the Orthodox Christian Georgia, is out of place.

The rally participants promised to hold their protests at any site the pope will visit in Georgia.

The protest rally is being held under the supervision of the police.
