Volgograd, November 7, Interfax - Officials from the Federal Security Service's Department for the Volgograd Region and police officers have found an organized group involved in the provision of financial support to members of international terrorist organizations, including those active in the territory of Syria, Natalya Gryaznova, press officer for the Federal Security Service's Department for the region, told Interfax on Monday.
"Three members of the group of radical Islamists who call themselves Oktyabrsky Jamaat were detained during operational search activities in the territory of the Oktyabrsky District of the Volgograd Region. The following things were found and taken from their residence: an object resembling a round for a VOG-17 rifle-attached grenade launcher with a detonator attached, reinforced with nail elements hand-made as a single round with duct tape, an object resembling an RGN grenade, [and] a detonator," Gryaznova said.
Computer equipment, a substance supposed to be a plant-based drug, mobile communication devices, bank cards, payment documents and money transfer receipts were also seized during the searches, she said.
"A decision on the detainees' arrest is now pending," Gryaznova said.
