Grozny, January 24, Interfax - Ahmad Kadyrov Foundation will restore one of the oldest mosques in the world in Syrian Aleppo, press service of the Chechen head and government reports.
The republic's mufti Salah Mezhiyev and State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov have recently visited Syria. They carried out their Friday prayer at the famous Umayyad Mosque in Aleppo which had been built 1300 year ago and now is destroyed and plundered by terrorists.
"Residents of Syria were glad to hear the news about decision taken by the head of the Foundation named after hero of Russia Ahmad-hajji Kadyrov to restore the shrine," the mufti said at his meeting with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
Kadyrov said that besides restoring the Umayyad Mosque, the Foundation would also built two hostels for orphans in Syria.
