Moscow, February 20, Interfax - Unidentified criminals attacked the parochial house at Sts Peter and Paul Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Vasiliyevka in the Odessa Region.
During the attack that was committed on Friday night the criminals inflicted hard injuries to the church rector Archpriest Alexey Glushko, press service of the UOC Information and Education Department reports.
The priest, who lives in the house with his family, heard noise about 03 a.m. He saw an unidentified man who attacked him. The cleric manage to detain him, but another criminal hurried to help the attacker. The second criminal bet the priest with a metallic object on the head and body. Then the criminals ran away.
Father Alexey received urgent medical help in the hospital, the patient is in fair condition, he has numerous hematomas and bruises in his face, neck and shoulders.
It was reported in early February that the Odessa Region faced the wave of attacks against UOC churches which were subjected to robbery and desecration.
