Moscow, February 21, Interfax - One of the most respected elders in the Russian Orthodox Church, spiritual father of the Holy Trinity - St. Sergius Laura Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov) has passed away on Monday at the age of 97.
"Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov) has passed away... Heavenly Kingdom to the newly reposed. Another lightener faded. Another conductor of God's mercy..." nun Feodora (Lapkovskaya) wrote in her post in a social net.
Father Kirill was one of the most respected Russian elders, long time he was Patriarch Alexy II's spiritual father. Sometimes Archimandrite Kirill is identified to famous sergeant Pavlov who participated in the battle of Stalingrad and fought for the famous Pavlov's House.
Early in 2009, not long before he was elected the patriarch, locum tenens Metropolitan Kirill visited Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov) and took his blessing.
